Lombard Campus Updates Feb 2016
We would like to extend a warm, hearty welcome to our 27 new February students! We have a very talented group of future broadcasting and media professionals joining us this month and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have them. Take advantage of as many opportunities as you can while you are here. This is your time.
Along with the name change to Illinois Media School, our campus has been getting a makeover! Our hallways are sunshiny, new equipment is being introduced, and our space is more efficient and accessible than ever.
If you would like to be part of the Sports Emphasis South Bend Cubs experience, please understand that space is limited. Reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org or 630-568-6654. If you’re graduation date from the core program is later than May 2016, you will want to be on the 2017 roster, so contact me to get onto that mailing list. Also, if you would like to refer someone to our core broadcasting and media program, please send them my way!
The Education Department would like to congratulate the following students from the June Days 2015 class for completing their broadcasting program at Illinois Media School-Lombard Campus: Michael Finch, Chris Forston, Cody Grant, Cory Lusk, Tony Offerman and Bill Tolan.
Other recent events on campus have included a Film Fest, and a series of seminars and guest speakers which included:
Eddie Volkman, former B96 DJ (part of the wildly successful Eddie V and JoBo partnership); Ben Anderson (IMS Graduate, Audio Production); Tom Wekony (ABC 7 Director) Jason Cage (B96 DJ) and
Kristin Cwynar (Meteorologist, WTVO/WQRF)
Upcoming Guest Speakers include: Angelica Zaper (Freelance Audience Coordinator), Wed, March 2nd, 6:30pm
Clinton Cole (IMS Graduate, Tulane Football and Basketball Studio Host) Tuesday, March 22nd, 9:30am
Then our Student Showcase will take place on Thursday, March 10th from 5:30-6:30pm. Students will present a piece of their best audio/video work they have done so far.
It’s an exciting time in Career Services. Recently, we chartered a bus, loaded it with recent Grads, and took a road trip to the fine State of Wisconsin.
Our mission was to get our grads an opportunity to meet and speak with over 35 stations at the Wisconsin Broadcasters Career event. Our Grads had the opportunity to meet station staff and to interview for open positions right on the spot with companies like Midwest Communications, iHeart Media, Gray Television Group, Woodward Communications, and many, many more. Our graduates presented well and left a positive impression with all the station reps. We can’t wait for the next Career Fair coming this fall.
