The Illinois Center for Broadcasting (ICB) would like to thank Kerry Sayers, Update/Anchor for 670 the Score Radio – CBS, for spending time with our students as a guest speaker at the downtown campus on Tues. Oct. 21.
During Ms. Sayers presentation, she revealed that she had gone to a very good college but wished that she could have attended a school like ICB to get that hands-on training that she had to learn after she graduated from college.
Kerry also talked about how she got a job with a Detroit TV outlet during the course of taking a tour of the facilities. While walking through the sports department, she impressed the various reporters and anchors with her knowledge and experience that came from working with a noted basketball coach in the area. Kerry also reveals what it was like for her to cover the Detroit Lions locker room – (one of her first assignments as a reporter) filled with naked athletes after a game.
Prior to her current assignment at 670 the Score, Kerry has been a TV reporter/anchor for FOX32, WFLD-TV, Chicago. She has also served in that same capacity for the BIG TEN NETWORK, COMCAST SPORTSNET in Chicago, FSN Northwest, Fox Sports Net Ohio, and the Empire Sports Network.
She has over ten years of professional experience in the media business and has worked in both radio and television.
Her position as an Update/Anchor demands proven major market sports-related experience, advanced audio production skills, significant experience in a broadcast newsroom and/or game reporting experience.
We thank Kerry for her willingness to share her time with our students.
