Meet Brittany Brown a recent Ohio Media School graduate of the Radio & Television Broadcasting Program. Brittany noted that her decision to enroll at OMS was based on her belief that the school would provide her with the knowledge and skills needed to “get further in media and in her acting career for television and film. She aspires to be an on-air personality. Brittany is an actress, singer, and model who through her media training has gone on to create and launch her YouTube channel and Podcast.
In addition to her passion for acting, she recently accepted the role as the media correspondent for the Ohio Kings Professional Basketball Team of the American Basketball Association (ABA). Brittany eventually aspires to create her own media business.
Brittany’s advice to our aspiring media students is “Don’t give up. Things will get hard. Don’t let the outside t world impact what you’re working on in school. It is truly worth it in the end”
Please join us in celebrating Brittany Brown as she launches her career with the Ohio Kings. With her bubbly personality coupled with her determination and focus will allow her to continue to shine bright! 🎙

“Former collegiate athlete, passionate about spreading awareness on social issues, and having those difficult conversations.” Crystal Corr, Graduate of Illinois Media SchoolWith a bachelor’s degree in Communication, it was Crystal Corr’s Guidance Counselor at Concordia University Chicago who encouraged her to enroll at Illinois Media School so that she would gain hands-on training and acquire the technical skills needed to advance her career goals. In addition to classroom and studio time on campus, Crystal also gained industry experience through internships available through Career Services and Education. Her passion for the camera grew in her first internship experience as a videographer with D Stone Live and she gained additional training with Urban Grind TV. It would be through her internship at The Walt Disney Company’s ABC 7 Chicago, that she gained tremendous industry growth. Crystal was thrilled to have the opportunity to work alongside two of her favorite TV personalities at ABC7, Val Warner and Ryan Chiaverini, and to assist the Creative Content, Programming, and Promotions Departments.Crystal graduated from Illinois Media School and focused on TV, but it was the thick of the pandemic, and landing a good career start proved to be difficult. To make ends meet, she accepted a full-time Nanny role but never lost sight of her media career goals.
Completing her contract, Crystal redirected her focus to On-Air radio. Recently hired as Assistant Producer at Audacy, Inc. News Radio WBBM-AM, Crystal is thrilled. Working alongside former Illinois Media School classmate and mentor, the very talented Dalal Orfali, Crystal is finding everyone very helpful and the job a great career start. WBBM Afternoon Traffic Anchor and Instructor at Illinois Media School, Neil Fiorito is an amazing advocate for our graduates and both Crystal and Dalal continue to be mentored by this industry veteran, who is also an Illinois Media School (formally Illinois Center for Broadcasting) alumnus.
Crystal’s advice to current students is, “Build relationships and learn from your instructors who are professionals in the industry. They are also great references, so show them who you are and what you can do!”
Very grateful to her Illinois Media School instructors which included On-Air Host Davante Stone and Emmy Nominated TV Host and Hollywood Entertainment Senior Contributor at Forbes, Jeff Conway, Crystal took advantage of every opportunity to learn from a pro to be a pro!
Please join us in celebrating Crystal Corr as she launches her career at WBBM -AM! Ambitious and focused, we know she will continue to shine bright! 🎙

“Give yourself the chance to believe in what you can do” -Justin RodriguezMeet Justin Rodriguez, a recent graduate of Ohio Media School Cincinnati Campus. Justin has been hired as a Promotions Assistant at Radio One and is very excited about his career start. Engaged and motivated to be at the top of his game, Justin could not have anticipated this opportunity when he first enrolled at Ohio Media School.Justin chose to enroll at Ohio Media School because he had just left a job and he really wanted to make a change for himself by learning the skills that would help him find success. He credits Ohio Media School with assisting him to achieve those goals. Justin will tell you that the hands-on training by instructors who are themselves professionals in the industry, taught him to get over his fears of large crowds, being the center of attention as well as the anxiety of sending emails and making phone calls. He feels that the positive reinforcement from staff and instructors helped him to grow tremendously, and provide the confidence needed to launch his career.Knowing how difficult it can be when English is your second language, Justin is also determined to provide a voice to the Latino community. He will continue to use the skills he has acquired to assist him in accomplishing this goal. His own background of overcoming the language barrier when he came to the US, drives him to help others in a similar situation. Giving people a voice is Justin’s passion.
In addition, Justin found he had a natural talent and love for the camera and editing. As a live-streaming gamer, he is putting those skills to work and is enjoying the opportunity to record his interactions and build a connection with his gaming community, as well.
Justin’s advice to current students is, “Give yourself the chance to believe in what you can do even though it may seem the position you are seeking is of your reach. Go after it anyway because you never know what will happen once you get started.”
Please join the Beonair Network of Media Schools, which includes Ohio Media School, in congratulating Justin and wishing him continued success! Confident and talented, Justin Rodriguez is following his dreams to reality
We invite you to connect with our emerging media professionals. Please Inbox local Career Services Director Phillip Bufford to learn more about our programs and graduates. Together, let’s create opportunities and fill your hiring needs!

Holidays are no time to slow your job search!
You might think the holidays mean a slowdown in hiring, but the truth is employers hire when they need new employees!
Many people slow their job search during the holidays, which translates into less competition and more opportunities for you! With fewer candidates vying for specific jobs, you may land an amazing opportunity that you never dreamed would come your way. Keep organized and track responses to avoid missing an email or text.
This is also a great time of year to network. Industry mixers and local community events are excellent times to mix and mingle, offer your card, and have your brand pitch up to par.
2023 budgets are in place, and companies are ready to hire. You may be able to negotiate a later start date or choose to get started and enjoy the added income with a quick start.
Most importantly, stay focused and don’t assume that because it’s the holiday, you should take time off from your job search. Just the opposite! Dig in and make your future happen!
OK, one day off for Thanksgiving! And then back to work on the job search. Land that job and celebrate!
Best,
Lynda

OMS-Cleveland Visits Cleveland Gaming Classic
|
|
Ohio Media School Career Services Director Houda Crable took a peak inside this year’s Cleveland Gaming Classic, exploring the many ways our students and graduates can pursue their passion, both in internship and employment.
While attending, Houda was happy to catch up with former Ohio Media School Instructor representing Hyland, the very talented Jeffrey Ford and Employer partner at Rock The House, Director of Entertainment Cory Enriquez, who was DJing the event!
It is incredible to note that the Cleveland Gaming Classic started more than a decade ago, with eight friends playing a Tecmo Bowl Tournament in someone’s basement. It has grown into a weekend convention drawing gamers from at least ten states to the IX Center in Northeast Ohio.
