James is the author of thirty-three books, and his first book, The Platinum Rainbow (written with Bob Monaco in 1980), became the largest selling book ever written about the music business

He currently has 3 new books in the works, has written a screenplay for Omni Productions that will star Bruce and Laura Dern that will begin production in the fall of 2016 and has 2 other screenplays that are in development with established  Production Companies  He also finds his work as an educator very rewarding and enjoys inspiring current students at the Illinois Media School in O’Hare, Ill.
