Recently we invited Tim Taylor and Robin Swoboda to share their broadcasting journey with current OCB Students.
The WJW-TV 8 news team of Tim Taylor, Robin Swoboda, Dick Goddard and Casey Coleman were the highest rated local news team in Cleveland TV history.
Tim began his career at two radio stations simultaneously in Cleveland Heights and Newbury, Ohio. Next stop was a news job at WCUE in Akron, followed by WHK in Cleveland. His TV career started as the first investigative reporter in Cleveland at WEWS-TV5. In 1977, Tim was hired cross-town at WJW-TV 8.
Robin Swoboda began her TV news career in Moline, Ill, followed by a stay in Miami, Fl. In 1986 she got the call to WJW in Cleveland, to join Tim, Dick and Casey. She left Cleveland in 1991 to co-host Cover to Cover on NBC. She came back to WJW in 1996 to re-join the same news team, but left again in 1998 to join TV 5’s Morning Exchange. In 2002, Robin switched to radio to become morning show co-host on Cleveland’s The Fish, 95.5. In 2007, she came back to WJW for the 3rd time as host of That’s Life, renamed The Robin Swoboda Show. In 2011 she left to become co-anchor of the 7pm news at WKYC TV 3.
