From community service to cinematic storytelling, Jaisyn Passmore’s journey is a powerful example of how lived experience can shape meaningful, impactful media.

Jaisyn returned to Illinois Media School after previously completing Radio & TV Broadcasting in 2020, driven by a desire to expand into film and elevate his creative voice. With professional media experience dating back to 2012, he chose IMS as a place where he could refine existing skills while gaining hands‑on experience with new filmmaking tools, techniques, and creative approaches.

That decision has paid off.

Today, Jaisyn works as a Production Assistant with A Vick Flick, while also running his own creative ventures, VerbalFrame Productions and DSI Music Chicago. His work marks a transition from content creation into narrative filmmaking, including short and feature film development.

A full‑circle moment came through reconnecting with filmmaker Vick Lee, stepping into a more established role on production sets and continuing to build stories with meaning and emotional depth.

With the support of Illinois campus leadership, Jaisyn is also helping organize and develop the Illinois Media School Alumni Guild, creating a stronger creative network that connects professionals statewide—and beyond.

Both films are currently being considered for Melanated in America’s Fall 2026 Film Screening, and Late, But On Time has positioned Jaisyn to compete in The People’s Artist initiative presented by Johnny Depp—a major milestone in his filmmaking journey.

Jaisyn’s background in public service, education, and grassroots community development informs every frame he creates. From implementing systems that addressed homelessness to building narratives centered on culture and human experience, his work lives at the intersection of film, music, and social impact.
