Take The Free Quiz!"This school was exactly what I was looking for. Engaging and inspiring teachers, inclusive and diverse students, and hands-on experience with all the toys a big kid like me could want. The in-depth teaching and hands-on training with all the equipment and software needed to get into the media industry felt overwhelming at first, but how welcoming and happy to help everyone was with any and all questions...Colorado Media School definitely reignited my passion for Going to School, meeting new teachers, and stepping back into the seat as a student, and reminding me I am capable. Thanks, Colorado Media School, you all rock!
When I enrolled in the Ohio Center for Broadcasting, I wanted a complete career change. I am very happy to say that that’s exactly what I got. I have an exciting job in radio that I love and I’m looking forward to a very bright future in this business. I’m working for KRAI in Craig, Colorado as an on-air personality/news anchor. The equipment here at the station is all digital and I get to use my education at OCB all the time, especially with Cool Edit. My hands-on training has helped make the learning process here much quicker. I know I still have a lot to learn about this business, but it certainly helps to have a head start! It wasn’t easy to make myself go to all those night classes and spend all those hours at my internship, but I’m glad I did. The Ohio Center for Broadcasting has changed my life and I’m thankful for it!”
I do not know how to thank everyone at OCB-Colorado for opening doors and making it possible for me to become an on-air weather meteorologist”
Hi everybody at OCB! I have landed a part-time position at Rocket Pictures as a Production Assistant. Initially I came to OCB wanting to be an ‘on-air’ talent on a morning show radio station, but found that television can be as much fun as radio. OCB helped me to realize hidden talents that I didn’t know existed in me!”
I can’t thank everyone at OCB enough for all of the support. Working in the industry, in particular at KGBT in Harlington, TX, has been the best experience of my life. My first job and I’m in a top 100 market. Believe me, it can happen.”
The program at OCB is very fun and challenging, you’re going to enjoy it. However, I feel the most important thing about the program is the opportunity to obtain an internship. I strongly suggest you make as much time available for it as possible. If you went to a four-year school you would have to wait until your junior year to even be eligible to apply for one, so to be able to intern after only a few months at OCB really will put you ahead. The atmosphere of professionalism and intense pressure of the workplace will open your eyes to what broadcasting is really all about. Once you get one, perform as if you are a new hire; ask questions, don’t chit-chat, observe your co-workers, and interact with everyone. Just do the job, don’t sit there looking around wondering what to do, you must take the initiative. Good luck. So here’s my favorite inspirational quote to help get you motivated; “Begin now to live like a master, it is time to laugh at all your fears”.
This Letter is to share my appreciation and gratitude to the staff of the Ohio Center for broadcasting. I graduated from OCB in June, 2010, and I was just recently hired as the morning jock at a small station in northeastern Colorado. Before I enrolled at OCB, my experience as a DJ was limited to years of working at nightclubs and doing weddings for a mobile DJ company. For me, the desire to go into radio was the next step in creating a career for myself and in an industry that I am passionate about. At OCB, I was able to make that dream a reality. I cannot thank Mark, Terry and Larry enough for their support and guidance. The help they provided me, first as a student, and then as a graduate, was irreplaceable. If I can offer any advice to current students at OCB, it would be to work hard, learn as much as possible and, most importantly, believe in yourself. Finding a job after graduation was initially very frustrating, as I had sent out resume’ after resume’ without a response. By keeping in constant contact with Mark, I stayed in the loop with job openings and contacts. After a few months and with perseverance, dedication and a never quit attitude, I scored a great job and will be doing what I thought would never be possible. With my career in broadcasting under way, I’m ready to meet the challenges ahead, but I’m also ready to reap the rewards of the education I received. A big thank you to Mark, Terry, Larry and the entire OCB staff for making my current job my dream job.
