Kelli Walker,a 2001 graduate of the Illinois Center for Broadcasting – O’Hare Campus, was our featured guest speaker on 5/8/2013.
Kelli currently works as an On-Air Traffic Reporter for Clear Channel Chicago, and Total Traffic Network doing morning and afternoon drive traffic reporting for stations such as WLIT-FM 93.9, WGCI 107.5, 103-5 KISS-FM, and WVAZ V103. She also does fill-in traffic reporting for WFLD-Fox 32 News. Kelli can also be heard doing traffic reporting for stations in Minneapolis, Indianapolis, Houston and St Louis.
During Kelli’s guest speaking presentation, she talked with students about her broadcasting journey, and her career path that began with working her way up from smaller radio markets to her role as an on-air talent in Chicago, the 3rd largest market in the country!
Kelli reminded students to work hard while in school and to treat their internships like it’s their first job in broadcasting.
Kelli shared that she loves what she does and that attending the Illinois Center for Broadcasting was the best decision that she ever made.
Although she had dreams and goals about a career in broadcasting, as a student at ICB, she never imagined her career would provide her with so many great opportunities.
Her future plans include doing voice-overs for documentaries and cartoons.
